We spent Christmas Eve with Robert's parents. My mother-in-law made a delicious lasagna dinner and we had fun listening to some of their old records. My favorite was an Elvis Christmas record. My father-in-law recently bought a new record player because his old one wasn't working. It was a great investment. All the records we listened to were great! I'm thinking about picking one up someday :)
It was definitely a great time. They had to leave for Georgia on Christmas morning to visit Janet - Robert's older sister - and her family, so we left a little early to let them get some sleep before their early flight. So with good food and good cheer, we finished off our Christmas Eve at our house, watching a movie.
We spent the majority of the Christmas Day just relaxing and doing a whole lot of nothing! We both got really great presents and spent some part of the day using them :) Robert is so incredibly self-less... he told me that all he wanted for Christmas from his parents was some money so that he could get me a Christmas gift with it. So with that money he got me Lightroom 3 to help me manage my photos better. And that's just one tiny-little-minute example of how self-less he is... How could I be so lucky to have such a caring and wonderful husband? I don't know.. but I am one lucky gal. He really is the best gift to me. He also surprised me with a rock pick for when we go digging for fossils again :)
My father-in-law surprised me with a beautiful necklace in the shape of a snowflake! I'll have to take some good photos of it when the light is just right to show off how beautiful it is ;)
My mom had to work on Christmas Day so we didn't make it to my parents' house until really late. But we made it and had some delicious late dinner and spent some quality time there as well. My mom makes the best salad... it's so simple but so good: sliced cucumbers, tomatoes and onions, some salt and oil. And voila! The easiest and tastiest salad. I can never get enough of it.
We also exchanged gifts, and because it was so late, had to call it in earlier than usual. It's all right, though. We'll get to spend another Christmas Day there on January 7th - the old Christmas Day, which is also a day after my birthday!
So it's been kind of a hectic time but it's been wonderful, too.
